how to verify HW information

  • useful command for HW topology
sudo apt install hwloc
sudo lshw -class memory
lstopo {file.txt | file.png | ...}

  • check the number of memory rank (i.e. see Locator and Rank field)
sudo dmidecode -t memory |grep Locator
sudo dmidecode -t memory |grep Rank

this is useful when you want to optimize the performance of multi-processor(not multi-core, but multi-socket) CPU.

  • find out PCI address of NICs
sudo lshw -c network -businfo
sudo lspci | grep -i ethernet
